Discription:

Gray granite with black engraved lettering. The top half of the memorial includes the inscription, “Dedicated to those who have crossed the bar and to those who will follow.” The Center of the memorial includes a boldly engraved United States Coast Guard logo. Under the logo. Below that logo, an embedded copperplate metallic logo of the “Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association the United States Coast Guard 1929” and a separate embedded copperplate logo of the “Las Vegas Mavericks” chapter of the aforementioned association. Engraving at the bottom of the memorial reads, “Dedicated by the Chief Warrant Officers Association, Silver State Chapter and Chief Petty Officers Association, Las Vegas Mavericks Chapter. 11 November 1998.”

Dedicated November 11, 1998. The Chief Petty Officers Association is organized to “encourage fidelity, integrity to the Service, and better understanding and fellowship, and to advance the best interests of the enlisted personnel of the Coast Guard, especially of those associated as members of this organization, and to extend all possible relief to their surviving spouse and children; to foster the cultivation of military discipline and true allegiance to the United States of America.” The Chief Warrant Officers Association [of the Coast Guard] states in part that its duty is to “…uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; our responsibility to aid, assist and save distressed seaman and others; [and] our responsibility in the enforcement of maritime, custom, fisheries and other laws of our Country…”
