Purple Heart Plaza

Discription:

The plaza features a nationally recognized Purple Heart Monument along with a donor brick program that allows the public to purchase engraved pavers that are installed there to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Veterans can be “Honored and Remembered” by the pavers, even if they did not receive Purple Hearts. The area includes a linear park with shaded seating, game tables, and landscaping.

Address:

101 Market Street, corner of Pacific Ave., Henderson, NV 89015. Market Street is also designated as honorary Purple Heart Way as indicated by a brown and white street sign beginning at the corner of Purple Heart Street. Across the street from the plaza, a parking place is designated for use by a veteran who has received a Purple Heart.

History:

Concerning the medal, it was created in 1782. It is awarded to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces who are wounded or killed in action. Henderson became the first Purple Heart city in the state of Nevada in January 2014 and later developed the plaza, at the urging of State chapters of the MOPH.
