The naming came about as a result of a bill by Rep. Susie Lee that was signed into law by President Donald Trump. Lee is actually a resident of Las Vegas, but choose the Henderson post office for the naming because of the fact that the city of Henderson was born out of WWII. It built manufacturing facilities that produced much-needed magnesium for the war effort. “I am a daughter of a Korean War veteran and member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs,” Lee said. “Renaming the 404 South Boulder Highway post office to the Henderson Veterans Memorial Post Office is a symbol and will be a daily reminder that our community is not whole without our veterans. But we must remember that serving our veterans does not end with recognition. The (post office) and Veterans Day as a whole represents our dedication to fighting for the rights, benefits, and dignity of every Nevada veteran.”
