History:
The memorial was dedicated in early 2000. On Veterans Memorial Drive, there is a U.S. flag, a wreath, a stone monument, and a bench. Located at the corner of Veterans Memorial Drive and Adams, Boulder City Republican Women worked closely with the City of Boulder City. The city forester designed the memorial’s layout and our club solicited the supplies and delivered them. Upon completion of the project, BCRW petitioned the city to change the name of this extension of Georgia Avenue to Veterans Memorial Drive. The city council unanimously approved the request. Members began to place wreaths on the site for on holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. After the events on 9/11, however, these wreaths, which celebrate the men and women for their service to our country, became a permanent fixture of the memorial. Members and guests to BCRW luncheons donate to the Circle of Stones jar. These donations help maintain and purchase new wreaths throughout the year.
