Hero Bio:

Michele Colucci was born in Viche, Italy, in the year 1895. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company as a section hand at Toy, Nevada, previous to his induction into the service, and went to Camp Lewis with the boys from Lovelock, Pershing (then part of Humboldt) County, on the 26th of April, 1918. He served in the 19th Company, 5th Battalion, 166th Depot Brigade, until June 15th, and thereafter in Company H, 364th Infantry, 91st Division.

On July 12th he crossed with his unit to France; on September 12th served with it in reserve at St. Mihiel, and on September 26th, entered the great Meuse-Argonne Offensive with the 91st. He was killed in action that same day as the 364th fought its way through the Bois de Cheppy, east of the Argonne. Unfortunately nothing is known of his relatives except that he has a brother, Frank Colucci, who lives somewhere in California, and for this reason nothing can be learned of his early life. Members of the American Legion of Lovelock have gathered what little information they could regarding their fallen comrade.
