John Benevent was born in Saint-Bonnet, France, and when enlisted in the United States Army at Ft. McDowell, California, July 17, 1917, was twenty-four years of age. At the time of his entrance into the service of the United States. He was a resident of East Gate, Churchill County.

There is no information available concerning his military career. February 17, 1918, he died with a fractured skull, the result of an accident. Mother, Mrs. Victoria Benevent of San Francisco, California, survives him. Communication, however, could not be established with her. His name appears on the Honor Roll of Churchill County.
