Hero Bio:

Harris Lloyd Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Butler, was born at Coulterville, California, on November 7th, 1896. He moved to Reno while a young man and entered the employ of an ice delivery company. Thereafter he remained in Reno until called to the Colors on September 5th, 1918. He went first to Camp Lewis, Washington, where he served in the 166th Depot Brigade, transferring later to the 23d Company, Columbia Coast Artillery Corps, at Fort Stevens, Oregon. While there he contracted influenza which developed into pneumonia and carried him away on October 7th, 1918. He was laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, October 12th, 1918, with the ceremony that becomes a soldier and a patriot.

Those who survive are his widow, Mrs. Mildred Butler, of Reno, Nevada; his father, Donald H. Butler, his mother, Mrs. May E. Chance, and his sister, Mrs. Charles Van.
