Sergeant Clive Arden Walker was born at Chico, Butte County, California, April 21, 1893, where he attended grammar school and commenced his high school course. He did not finish in the Chico High School, but went to Berkeley, California, where he graduated in 1912, entering the University of California as a law student. Sergeant Walker came to Nevada, going to Ely, which address he gave upon his enlistment at Ft. McDowell, California, on November 14, 1917. He was assigned to 11th Company 2d Air Service Mechanics Regiment.
On January 3, 1919, he was transferred to 1104th Aero Replacement Squadron. He served overseas from April 8, 1918, to April 21, 1919. Upon his return to the United States he was taken ill. He was transferred to Denver, Colorado, and almost seven months later he passed away at the U. S. General Hospital 21, Denver, Colorado, November 9, 1919. His remains were returned to his home at Chico where they now rest. He is survived by his parents, Fred E. and Ruth E. Walker of Nimshew, California; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Walker of Chico, California. It was a sad fate which let this valiant volunteer through the turbulent days of the war, to lay down his life after his return to his native land. Such was the fate of many of our courageous boys, but whether they passed on under hospital roof or on the open field, they are all one in the eyes of a grateful nation.
